In the last post I introduced you to my new nephew, baby J, moments after his birth. Well, now it's time for his newborn photos. He's such an easy going baby and slept like a champ during our session (except for that one moment when he got hungry and turned into a fierce and ravenous little tiger :-)).

Little baby M came to see me when he was just 10 days old. And when he left I found myself wishing for two things:

#1. a new baby of my own AND
#2. the kind of peaceful slumber that only babies experience.

Seriously, little guy slept through the entire session, only waking briefly to inform us that he was hungry... then once his tummy was full, it was right back to sleep again.

It didn't bother him at all that I was shifting his position and/or changing his clothes every minute or two.

He made my job SOOOO EASY.

Oh. My. Goodness. Only six more weeks until my nephew makes his debut! SOOOO EXCITED!!!

So, we figured it'd be a good time to take some maternity shots of his beautiful mama (my beautiful sissy).

Baby C... Ogden, UT Newborn Photographer

Ok, I'll be honest... I was a soooooo nervous to photograph little Baby C.

I mean, I'd photographed newborns before... but they'd either been my own or somehow related to me... Baby C was my first unrelated newborn session...

Little guy was 11 days old and had a rough night before I arrive at his house that Wednesday morning. Mama, daddy and baby were all a little worn out. I felt for them. After all, I'd been there before... MANY times.

But, all in all ... even though Baby C was a little weary... he did well throughout our session.

He's also one of the most alert babies I've ever met.

And, did I mention he's adorably long and lean???

Towards the end of our session, Little C was obviously growing tired and little guy knew just how to soothe himself...

After a short wait... Baby C was catching up on those lost ZZZ's from the night before... sleeping soundly and comfortably.

Um... is it me? Or does that last pic make you baby hungry too?!?!

Ok, how 'bout a riddle to start us off?

What do you get when an absolutely beautiful family crosses paths with an absolutely beautiful location?

Answer: Wonderfully delicious pictures!!!!

I've got to admit, when J contacted me to do her maternity pictures, I was a little nervous... "Ok, but you'll be my first maternity session..." I explained to her in a 'no promises' sort of disclosure. But, J didn't flinch and we started scouting for a location.

We had a field envisioned for the location and about 2 weeks before the shoot I found the 'perfect' location. Just to be safe, I decided I should check the field a day or so before to make sure it was the location I really wanted. When I pulled up, I didn't find a field, I found a LAKE! My perfect location wasn't just a little soggy... it was drowning in about 4 feet of water! ARGH!

So the hunt was on... find the perfect field in one day. I drove around for a few hours scouting... and as the sun was setting I happened by a field just a few miles from my home. It was like an angel came down from the heavens and sang... PERFECTION!

The whole family came along for the photo session and little B had a blast running through and playing in the long grasses...

And J? Isn't she positively stunning?!?!

I had such a great time at this session. The weather was perfect, the location was perfect, the lighting was perfect, and the family... well, they were perfect too... :-)

A Bit of a Teaser - Weber County Family Photographer

Wow! Yesterday was a busy one for me. Two photo shoots with two different families all in one day = SO MUCH FUN!!!! Have I ever mentioned how much I love this job?!?!?!

So, because I have a little editing to do and some bridal pics from a few weeks ago that need to be posted.... I thought I'd just put up a little teaser from yesterday's sessions until I can get caught up.

I started the morning out with my new nephew. (What a great way to start the day, eh?) Little B's family is absolutely overjoyed about his arrival, especially his two older sisters. They're both so cute and motherly with him and just couldn't stop smiling when they talked about their new little brother.

So, without further introduction... Here's a little peek of Baby B...

After Baby B's session. I met up with The B Family (lots of B's in this post...try not to get confused... hehehe). J wanted some maternity pics done before their second bundle of joy arrived at the end of June. Daddy B and little B came with J for some family shots. All I need to say about these pics can be said in three simple words... OH-MY-GOODNESS!!!!!

I've known D since he was about 3 years old. He and my brother are very good friends, always have been. So, when D and his fiance B called me and asked if I would photograph their wedding in August, I was absolutely thrilled!

The other night we met for their engagement session and I've gotta say... they make such a cute couple and it's wonderful to see D all grown up.

And B? Well, she's absolutely beautiful!

D also plays the guitar... and according to my brother... he's REALLY good.

18 months and growing fast - Ogden Child Photographer

A few months ago I purchased THE MOST ADORABLE Easter outfit for my son. An outfit that was purchased with the sole intent of taking his Easter/18 months photos in it. (Because let's face it... little boys and white linen shirts don't exactly 'play nicely together'.)

Well, I've been so busy lately and Mother Nature hasn't exactly been 'accommodating' the past few weeks, so I'm just now getting around to taking his pics... I'm only a month or so late. :-)

So, finally, here's my super studly little R... for his Easter/18 month pictures...

Meet K.

K is my good friend's daughter. K is also a very beautiful and very intelligent young woman. She recently submitted a commercial to the Utah Anti-Tobacco Campaign, one of 7,000+ entries from youth across the state.

Guess who won? Yup... K's entry won first place!!!! Soon, you'll see her anti-tobacco commercial hit the air waves. WAY TO GO K!!!!!

Yup... certainly not the easiest and most relaxing task in the world. So, thanks to the help of my sissy and bro-in-law, I was able to accomplish both. Thanks, Jeff and Nina!

I love photographing families.

I always find it interesting to see the individual interactions and dynamics between members of the family... even if it's only for an hour.

When I photographed this beautiful family, God had just sprinkled a 'healthy' batch of snow through out the Wasatch Front... and let me tell ya... it was bitter COLD. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see such a happy family standing in front of me when I arrived at the park.

We walked through the park, in a good 6 inches of fresh snow, to take some pics. No one complained, no one frowned.

In fact, I think they found the cold winter's afternoon a great excuse to cuddle close to one another.

Thanks guys, for being such great sports, despite the frost-bitten fingers and toes. :-)

Snow Ball Dance - Weber County High School Photographer

Heart Breakers

Today, I had a chance to meet up with my nephews, Decker and Cache... (well, not technically my nephews, but who really cares about small technicalities?!?!?) The shoot was a 'battle of the smiles', if you will, between the boys and the photographer... but, I think the photog triumphed in the end.

Poor Decker had his wrist casted 2 hours before the photo shoot... Long story, but I'll just say that the kid is tough, man!

Not to mention a total STUD!

Cache tried his best not to smile... but, hey... who says a smile makes the best picture? Sometimes only a small smirk is needed...

And, sometimes... it's the straight face that makes the picture great...

BUT... then again... a smile is wonderful too. :-)

Watch out girls... They're gonna be heart breakers.

Chad, Shana and girls

Let me first start out by saying I absolutely love this family. People just don't come any sweeter and more fun than this:

Chad and Shana are my brother-in-law and sister-in-law. We were talking pictures over Thanksgiving when Shana mentioned she'd made an appointment for 'one of those department store studio places'. I casually suggested she cancel her appointment and let me do the pics. She agreed and two days later they drove up to Ogden for their photo shoot.

It was another cold afternoon, but we got some great shots. Originally Shana was just looking for some pictures of the girls and maybe one of the whole family for Christmas cards. I convinced her to do some photos of just she and Chad...

I absolutely love shots like the next three... Candid, completely un-posed moments. I think these are the shots that truly capture the personality and beauty of a subject.

I had so much fun photographing the girls. They are simply darling.

Jake, Ashley and kids

This past Saturday I had the opportunity to photograph a truly wonderful family. The main goal was to photograph the entire group... 23 people to be exact... (I'll try to have those pictures up tomorrow.) but, Ashley and Jake wanted some photos of just their cute little family.

This family was so great to work with and no one complained about the cold... and, oh baby, it was a cold morning! We rushed to take the pictures so everyone could put their jackets back on and stand in the sun between locations.

But, it was all worth it, because we got some really good shots. :-)

And, last but not least, one of my favorite shots to date:
